Empowering girls trough education

School euippment
This project supports the students of the Ashram (Residential) High School for Girls at Rasimetta Village at Telangana State, India

In India, access to education is not a given. Even those who are fortunate enough to attend school often lack the necessary supplies. At the Ashram Residential High School in Rasimetta Village, the GoodTextiles Foundation has provided support on several occasions to help improve the educational experience for the girls.
Thanks to the foundation’s continued commitment, each girl has now received her own school bag, complete with writing utensils and other essentials, as well as a stainless steel water bottle for drinking water. In addition, the school’s computer lab has been refurbished, and a UPS system was installed to ensure an uninterrupted power supply for the computers.
Moreover, the foundation has funded the employment of an instructor for two years, who is responsible for developing a curriculum and teaching basic computer skills to the students.

Project details
The GoodTextiles Foundation (GTF) has taken a significant step in supporting the education and well-being of students at the Ashram Residential High School for Girls in Rasimetta Village, Telangana. This initiative, in collaboration with Chetna, aims to provide essential resources and improve infrastructure, ensuring a better learning environment for the 545 students attending the school.
Addressing Key Challenges
The school serves young girls from tribal communities and has faced ongoing challenges due to inadequate infrastructure. Over the years, high dropout rates, poor hygiene facilities, and a lack of educational resources have hindered students’ ability to learn and thrive. To combat these issues, GTF has provided various improvements, including renovated toilets, clean drinking water systems, and a safer school environment.
Building on these efforts, the latest phase of support includes:
- School bags and steel water bottles for all 545 students, with an additional 5% allocated for new admissions.
- Refurbishment of the school’s computer lab, equipping students with essential digital skills.
- Installation of an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) to ensure stable electricity for the computer lab.
- Funding an instructor for two years to teach computer literacy and enhance students’ employability prospects.
Transforming Digital Education
A major turning point came when it was discovered that the school had a computer lab with 21 desktop computers—but no instructor to teach the students. The computers remained unused for over two years. During a recent visit, the school administration requested GTF’s support to refurbish the lab and appoint a teacher. On November 19, 2024, the renovated lab was inaugurated, allowing students to use a computer for the first time.
The newly appointed instructor is now developing a structured syllabus to introduce students to basic computer skills. With functional computers and uninterrupted power, these students now have a chance to develop digital literacy, opening doors to future educational and employment opportunities.
A Sustainable Commitment
GTF’s continued investment in the school underscores its dedication to quality education and holistic student development. By addressing fundamental needs and providing essential resources, this initiative not only improves educational standards but also inspires confidence and ambition among young girls.
With each step, the GoodTextiles Foundation reaffirms its mission: empowering communities through meaningful and lasting change.
